Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) and NACOFTAN Partner to Boost Nigeria’s Coffee and Tea Industry
March 30, 2025

Abuja, Nigeria – [6th May 2025] –
The National Coffee and Tea Association of Nigeria (NACOFTAN) is proud to announce its participation in the inaugural Taraba State International Investment Summit 2025 (TARAVEST), scheduled to take place on May 21 in Jalingo. This landmark summit marks a new chapter in Taraba’s economic evolution, as it positions itself as a prime destination for sustainable, agriculture-driven investment in Nigeria.
Officially unveiled by His Excellency, Governor Agbu Kefas, on May 3 at the Executive Chamber of TY Danjuma House, Jalingo, TARAVEST 2025 is themed “Unlocking Taraba’s Investment Potentials: Advancing Agriculture, Energy, Mining, and Industrialization for Sustainable Growth and Development.” The event has already begun attracting the attention of international investors and development partners, and NACOFTAN is honoured to be part of this historic initiative.
Our association sees the summit as a timely platform to showcase the state’s expanding capacity in coffee and tea production. With Taraba’s unique highland ecology, rich soils, and improving infrastructure—including the revitalized Danbaba Suntai Airport and upgraded rural road networks—NACOFTAN believes the state is poised to become a national hub for premium Arabica coffee and specialty teas.
“We are excited to align with Governor Kefas’s visionary leadership and the broader goals of TARAVEST. Taraba’s secure and enabling environment, backed by a proactive civil service and sound governance, provides the confidence investors seek,” said Dr. Hassan Usman Kakara, NACOFTAN president. “We look forward to sharing our ambitious outgrower model, which is currently onboarding over 4,000 hectares of new coffee and tea farms in the state, with a strong emphasis on youth engagement, sustainability, and long-term export growth.”
Chaired by the highly respected Rt. Hon. Ndidi Elumelu, the summit’s Main Committee brings together eminent leaders and technical experts from across sectors. Their collective efforts are shaping what is expected to be one of Nigeria’s most impactful subnational investment showcases in recent memory.
NACOFTAN invites fellow investors, agribusiness leaders, policy actors, and international development partners to join us in Jalingo as we collectively write a new chapter in the agricultural and industrial future of Taraba State—and of Nigeria as a whole.
