Welcome to the National Coffee and Tea Association of Nigeria (NACOFTAN)
Established in 2004, the National Association of Coffee and Tea in Nigeria (NACOFTAN) is a non-profit, membership-driven organization that brings together stakeholders across the coffee and tea value chains in Nigeria.
Established in response to the Obasanjo administration's focus on coffee and tea, NACOFTAN stands as the official representative for professionals, producers, and retailers in Nigeria's coffee and tea industry. Affiliated with FACAN, the apex body for agricultural commodity associations, we champion a farmer-centric cooperative model.
Operating through sub-national state chapters, we address the unique concerns of smallholder farmers dominating the sector.
This strategic approach yields substantial benefits for farmers, processors, and marketers, with the ultimate goal of globalizing Nigerian coffee and tea.
Key production regions include Plateau, Bauchi, Oyo, Abia, Cross River, Taraba, Ekiti, Ondo, Delta, Kwara, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Anambra, Kogi, and Edo States.
Our value chains
Nigerian Coffee
Nigerian coffee thrives in high-altitude regions, such as the Mambila and Jos plateaus of Taraba and Plateau state respectively, though coffee cultivation is now carried out countrywide. The industry focuses on sustainable practices, cultivating a distinct, full-bodied flavour that has the potential to gain global acclaim.
Nigerian Tea
Sprouting from the Mambila plateau and in the Obudu Cattle Ranch, Nigerian tea has sustained local consumption (Highland Tea) and export. The industry's resurgence embraces innovation, preserving cultural techniques for a rich, diverse tea experience.
